New patent applications have given indications on what Apple may offer in the future. Some of the patents filed by the company included a new battery design, a new feature on the camera and an advanced haptics system. The high-speed cables and Mac mini will also feature some modifications according to some patents filed by the company.

A new battery design that offers different thickness was noted in one of the latest patents filed by Apple. This will allow the company to offer slimmer devices into the market. Earlier reports have given indications that the upcoming iPhone 5 will be slimmer by 1.4 millimeters compared to the current version of the device. This will be made possible by a slimmer battery, the use of in-cell technology and a metal back.

It may be possible for the camera covers of iOS devices to be used in selecting the exposure level of images basing on another patent filed by the company. The latest patent will allow Apple to prevent overexposure and underexposure of images by adding a blowout prevention stage in processing images.

Reports had earlier given indications that Apple will use a new haptic texture display on the new iPad. The new feature will make use of electric stimulus to create the textured feedback on the device. However following the release of the new iPad, the display did not feature this supposed new display although Apple has reportedly filed a new patent for an advanced haptics system.

The new haptics system will allow the display of the Apple devices to warp an arrow, a map, or button to make it come out and offer a 3D effect.

Tactile feedback is also provided to users through actuations or a combination of actuations that will be used by the haptic systems.  According to reports, the latest invention of Apple will feature stacked arrays that will create contoured screen surfaces. The new haptic display will also be pressure sensitive which would be beneficial for painting and drawing applications.

One patent filing of Apple showed that the latest high speed cable of the company will have the capability of transmitting data at high-speeds which would minimize insertion loss. The cables will also be flexible enough to be twisted and bent without being damaged. This latest patent also gives indications that the iPhone 5 may feature a round-shaped dock connector.
