The two new Sony Xperia smartphones are also water-resistant and are expected to enter the market by the third quarter of this year. The Sony Xperia Acro S and the Sony Xperia Go show that it is not necessary for rugged smartphones to lack a sleek design and power.

The Sony Xperia Acro S will feature a 4.3-inch Reality Display that comes with wet finger tracking and scratch resistant glass. This Sony Xperia smartphone will also feature a 12MP rear-facing camera that is capable of recording and playing 1080p full HD videos.

The Sony Xperia Acro S will come with the Android 4.0 OS and is reportedly PlayStation-certified, which will give it access to an increasing number of classic games.

On the other hand, the Sony Xperia Go features a 1GHz dual-core processor, 5MP camera and a 3.5-inch Reality Display. The device will come in three color options, white, black and yellow. The display of this Sony Xperia smartphone is composed of a mineral glass material that makes it scratch-resistant. The device also has an IP67 rating that offers resistance to water and dust.

The Sony Xperia Go will use the Gingerbread Android OS although an update is expected to be released by Sony soon. This Sony Xperia smartphone will come with the Sony Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited applications and services. When the Sony Xperia Go is launched in the US market it will be dubbed as the Sony Xperia Advance.
