Apparently Sony is still in the thick of the tablet wars as leaked images shows a new tablet that will feature the quad-core Tegra 3 processor of Nvidia. The upcoming quad-core Sony Xperia tablet will reportedly be available in three storage options and may be the successor to the Sony Tablet S.

The upcoming quad-core Sony Xperia tablet will feature a 9.4-inch screen display, wedge design and will use the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 OS. The upcoming device will also come with Wi-Fi connectivity, 1MP camera in front and an 8MP camera in the rear.

The possible price tag of the upcoming Sony Xperia tablet remains uncertain although some industry watchers have speculated that the 16GB model will be priced at around $449 while the 64GB model may have a price tag of around $649.

Aside from having a more powerful processor compared to the present tablet offering of Sony, the upcoming Sony Xperia tablet will also be lighter and slimmer. The leaked images of the upcoming device also hint at the possibility that the upcoming Sony Xperia tablet will feature a splash-proof aluminum chassis.

The upcoming device will also offer a number of user profiles, which is ideal for users who have a habit of letting other people use their tablet.

Reports have also revealed that a number of accessories are available for this upcoming Sony Xperia tablet including a dock stand, dock speaker, tablet stand, keyboard cover, as well as a carrying case. However it will be necessary to shell out more cash for these accessories, which can bloat the budget for this upcoming Sony Xperia tablet.

The upcoming Sony Xperia tablet may be made available by September according to unnamed sources. This indicates that the upcoming device may be unveiled during the coming IFA event.
