The Android 4.1 update is finally on its way to the Transformer tablets of Asus although the specific dates have yet to be revealed. Asus recently confirmed that the Transformer Pad, the Transformer Prime, and the Transformer Pad Infinity are expected to receive the Jelly Bean Android OS in the next few months.

The announcement on the upcoming release of the Android 4.1 update for the Transformer tablets of Asus follows an earlier announcement by HTC that the latest version of the Android OS will be released for the HTC One X and the HTC One S. Similarly, the specific release date for the Android 4.1 update for the HTC devices have yet to be revealed by the company.

Asus is expected to announce the specific release dates for the Android 4.1 update for their devices in the coming weeks.

Even as the Transformer tablets are scheduled to receive the Android 4.1 update, the company has also revealed that it is still assessing the update for the rest of their device offerings and may not give the confirmation on the release of the Jelly Bean Android to these devices.

Following the release of the Google Nexus 7 tablet, which comes with the Jelly Bean Android, industry watchers are anticipating the upcoming release of the Android 4.1 update to a number of Android-powered devices. Despite owning Motorola, Google has only released the update for the Xoom tablet while the other Motorola devices have yet to receive a schedule for the release of the Android 4.1 update.

In addition to the devices that were previously mentioned, the Nexus S is also anticipated to receive the Android 4.1 update in the near future.
