Instagram for Android Released

Following its introduction in 2010, a number of users have been waiting for the release of the Instagram for Android app. The app was initially available in iOS devices and users of Android-powered devices were promised the release of the app into their devices.

The long wait has finally ended as the Instagram for Android app was finally released recently through the Google Play Market.

The Instagram for Android app was initially hinted during the recent South by Southwest event although the specific release date was not revealed by the company.

Most of the features of the app for the Instagram for Android app are available for use although it reportedly excludes the tilt-shift/blur function. The user interface for the Instagram for Android app is similar to the iOS version of the app. Aside from being able to upload images, users are also given the capability of browsing through the images of their friends as well as view popular images.

With the release of the Instagram for Android app, the community of around thirty million users will grow. Around five million images have been uploaded each day by these registered users, which will increase with the addition of new users of devices using the Android OS.

The Instagram for Android app is compatible to smartphones that are using the Android 2.2 OS and up For the moment the app is not yet available to Android-powered tablet PCs.
