Folding Bik.E from Volkswagen

Think green, think folding Bik.E from Volkswagen. Well, its probably more appropriate to think blue or BlueMotion Technologies, in  line with the company's concept of sustainable, ecological mobility. The company recently unveiled an concept vehicle during the Auto China 2010 in Beijing - the Bik.E, which is an electric bike which can be folded to easily fit in the luggage compartment. Its size, when folded, is as small as an ordinary spare tire. Which means you can fit this in the compartment where the spare tire is usually stored (although this might not be a good idea if in case you may get a flat). Its supposed to have a range of up to twenty kilometers or around twelve and a half miles and reportedly has a top speed of around 20 km/h. Its prop stand is also not conventional since its found in the center giving it more stability compared to the traditional stand.
According to the representative from Volkswagen, the innovation was conceptualized by a team of specialists who look beyond existing conventions and find new unconventional solutions to mobility. The development of the concept itself does not end in Auto China 2010, a team within the company is currently looking for ways to market the vehicle. So the Bik.E might be something to look forward to in the future as an alternative to using a conventional bicycle in your short trips to the neighborhood store.
