Android 4.0 |
Sony has reportedly
started to release the Android 4.0 update for all of the 2011 smartphones on
its lineup.
The electronics
titan made the revelation on the release of the Android 4.0 update for its 2011
smartphone lineup through a user forum. According to Sony among the smartphones
that will receive the Android 4.0 update were the Sony Xperia Active, the Sony
Xperia Arc, the Sony Xperia Arc S, the Sony Xperia Neo, the Sony Xperia Neo V, the
Sony Xperia Pro, and the Sony Xperia Mini Pro
The recent
revelation is music to the ears of the owners of the Sony devices even as a
number of other smartphones have yet to receive the latest version of the Android
OS.
The company
also revealed that the Android 4.0 update for the Sony smartphones will be
released in batches in different countries around the world. The other details for
each smartphone were also released by the company recently while links were
provided on the user forum for some of the smartphones that were included in the
update list.
Earlier
reports had indicated that Sony will be making the Android 4.0 update available
for the other smartphones on its Xperia lineup for 2011 by the end of May or
near the start of June.
However reports
have also noted that the Sony Xperia Play will not be receiving the latest
version of the Android platform for the moment. Sony revealed that following
test with the Ice Cream Sandwich Android on the Sony Xperia Play, it discovered
that releasing an Android 4.0 update for the device will not ensure a consistent
as well as a stable experience for users, particularly when it comes to gaming.
Due to this the
Sony Xperia Play will not be receiving the Android 4.0 update.
