Pre-orders
for the upcoming NSZ-GS7 with Google TV are already being accepted by Sony as
speculations have emerged on how it will fare in the market.
The launch
of the latest Google TV of Sony, which was initially introduced during the
Consumer Electronics Show near the start of the year, was finally announced by
the company. The upcoming device, which will be called the NSZ-GS7 with Google
TV, will be launched into the market by Sony on July 22.
The upcoming
device will have a price tag of around $199. The company has also introduced
another device, the NSZ-GP9, which offers support for Blu-ray to the built-in
Google TV feature. The NSZ-GP9 will reportedly be available by the holiday
shopping season and will have a price tag of around $299.
Although the
Google TV was supposed to expand the capabilities of users in the living room
through the incorporation of the home theater content of the user into one
platform, it has been a bit of a disappointment for users. The lack of support
for the Google TV and the fact that the DVR integration will only work for
subscribers to the Dish Network has made it more of a niche product.
It remains
uncertain of the Google TV will benefit from the NSZ-GS7 even as a recent
review made on the device showed that the software for Google TV remains
unremarkable as it lacks support for applications of major streaming services
such as Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant and MLB.TV. The movie rental service of
Google itself is not supported by the device.
However the
trendy design of the NSZ-GS7 has impressed some observers while the
double-sided remote control that features a touch pad and keyboard may prove to
be practical.
With that
said, the consumers will have the final say on how the NSZ-GS7 with Google TV
will fare in the market.
