The number
of devices that received the Android 4.0 update has increased recently with the
inclusion of the Samsung Galaxy Note and Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket of
AT&T. This comes as the Jelly Bean Android 4.1 is set to be released with
the upcoming Google Nexus 7 tablet.
The Samsung
Galaxy Note is a 5.3-inch smartphone/tablet hybrid that saw notable sales in
the market. The long-awaited release of the Android 4.0 update to the Samsung
Galaxy S2 Skyrocket of AT&T was finally implemented even as its successor
has already entered the US market.
The Android 4.0 update brings a number of new features into the Android-powered devices
including a new user interface, the Face Unlock feature, a new browser, and the
Android Beam, which is the latest sharing protocol for Android-powered devices
that feature near field technology or NFC.
However some
users who received the Android 4.0 update on their Samsung Galaxy Note units
have noted that the device seemed to function like a Gingerbread
Android-powered device and not like the Ice Cream Sandwich Android found on the
Samsung Galaxy S3. The Android 4.0 update also brought a number of productivity
applications into the Samsung Galaxy Note.
As the
number of devices receiving the Android 4.0 update increase, some industry
watchers have started to ask when these devices will be receiving the
soon-to-be-released Jelly Bean Android 4.1 update.
