June 4 will
be a big date for owners of the Motorola Xoom since the Android 4.0 update will
be made available for their tablets.
The MotorolaXoom is the first tablet offering of Verizon that will receive the Android 4.0
update as it offers additional features to users of the device. Among the
features that the latest version of the Android mobile platform will offer to
the device are the finger-swipe notification dismissal and a speech-to-tech
capability.
Verizon also
added that the launch bar will also be customization by users of the Motorola
Xoom due to the Android 4.0 update while folders can be created to facilitate
access to frequently-used applications on the homepage of the device.
Enhancements
on messaging, email, and data will also be brought to the Motorola Xoom by the
Android 4.0 update along with an improvement in its imaging capabilities and
stability.
In addition
to the Motorola Xoom, the other handsets in the lineup of Verizon will also be
receiving the Android 4.0 update in the next few months. Among the devices that
will be receiving the latest version of the Android OS are the Droid Bionic,
Droid Razr, and Xyboard of Motorola in addition to the Rezound, Rhyme, and
Thunderbolt from HTC. The Samsung Galaxy Tab will also receive the update
together with the LG Spectrum and Lucid.
A teaser
video of the Android 4.0 update for the Motorola Droid Razr was released
recently by Motorola. The Transformer Prime of Asus was the first
Android-powered tablet to officially receive the Android 4.0 update near the
start of the year. It can be recalled that the Ice Cream Sandwich Android OS
was initially released together with the Galaxy Nexus last year.
By June 11,
the Samsung Galaxy S2 of T-Mobile will be receiving the Android 4.0 update.
