The Google Glass Explorer Edition will be released to developers before the end of the
month. This piece of news was confirmed recently by the online search giant,
which means you can actually get a hands-on trial of the device if you are a
developer who is ready to shell out $1,500 for the augmented reality eyewear.
This also means that anyone who wants to meet up with these developers should
be on their best behavior since whatever they will do may be broadcast live
over at a Hangout of the host.
The
announcement by Google came as the company revealed the partnership between
Google Ventures and a number of big guns over at Silicon Valley, which include
Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Andreessen Horowitz. The partnership
will invest in a number of startups that are currently working on products for
the “Glass Ecosystem.”
Some
industry watchers are hoping that some of these startups will result to some
products that will make the Google Glass fashionable enough to wear at a major
awards show.
It appears
that developers will be receiving the augmented reality eyewear before the
upcoming Google I/O event, which is scheduled to be held next month. This is
also around one year after the Google Glass was initially introduced by the
company at the Moscone convention hall in San Francisco.
Developers
who are lucky enough to be able to receive the Google Glass Explorer edition
can pick them up in San Francisco, New York or in Los Angeles.
