iPhone 5 |
A recently
released survey conducted by ChangeWave Research revealed that the demand for
the still-unannounced iPhone 5 has reportedly reached unprecedented levels.
Basing on a
survey conducted by the company fourteen percent are ‘very likely’ to acquire
the upcoming iPhone 5 while seventeen percent were ‘somewhat likely’ to acquire
the device. The survey involved 4.042 consumers in North America who were told
to anticipate a bigger screen, better camera, 4G LTE network support, the iOS
6, and a price tag similar to the iPhone 4S.
The VP for
research of ChangeWave, Paul Carton, revealed that the demand for iPhone 5 was
reportedly higher compared to the previous models of the device.
In
comparison to the still-unannounced iPhone 5, the iPhone 4S only had ten percent
of the survey participants answering that it was ‘very likely’ that they would
purchase the device while around 11.5 percent were ‘somewhat likely’ to
purchase it during a survey conducted in October of last year.
The demand
for the iPhone 5 was also higher compared to the demand of the Samsung Galaxy
S3, which currently the most popular Android-powered smartphone in the market.
Carton added
that smartphone sales are expected to increase by fall with Apple getting a
significant share of the market. Samsung will likely follow Apple in terms of
smartphone sales while the other device manufacturers may not experience a
significant increase in the demand for their product offerings.
The survey
results emerged even as reports have hinted that the Pegatron has already
started to manufacture the iPhone 5. Digitimes has reported that the Shanghai
facility of the China-based manufacturer has already started to churn out the
next-generation iPhone basing on information from Taiwan-based industry sources.
It can be
recalled that an earlier report has also hinted at the start of the production
of the upcoming iPhone 5 although the name of the manufacturer was not
revealed. The upcoming iPhone 5 is expected to feature a four-inch Retina
display screen, which is bigger compared to the 3.5-inch screen size of the
previous models of the device.
In addition
to the iPhone 5, the next model of the iPad will reportedly be produced by the
same manufacturer according to Digitimes.
