As the IFA 2013 event in Berlin kicks off this week, Acer unveiled its latest ten-inch Android-powered tablet, the Acer Iconia A3.  The latest tablet offering of the company will feature a 1280 by 800 display screen along with Dolby Digital Plus speakers that enhance sound and music for a better movie-viewing experience.

The device also features a 1.2GHz quad-core A7 Cortex processor and micro HDMI port that facilitates connection to an external display.  The Acer Iconia A3 also comes with a microSD memory card reader and five-megapixel camera that is capable of simultaneously record videos and take photos.

It runs on the Android 4.2 OS and will be promoted as an entertainment tablet by the company.  The Intellspin feature will reportedly allows the tablet to know how it is being used even when it is on a flat surface. The device will have two storage options, a 16GB and a32GB model. The

The Wi-Fi version of the Acer Iconia A3 is set to be released in Europe, Africa and the Middle East by October. On the other hand, the 3G version will enter the market by November. The price tags of the Wi-Fi and 3G models are $330 and $395, respectively.

The release schedule and price tag of the device in the US market has yet to be announced by the company.

Even as more devices are expected to be launched during the IFA tech trade show in Berlin, the Acer beat everybody to the punch with the introduction of the Acer Iconia A3.

Report Hints At Acer Iconia W3 - An Eight-Inch Windows 8 Tablet

Apparently Acer is planning to release an eight-inch tablet powered by the Windows 8 OS, the upcoming Acer Iconia W3 tablet, according to a website based in France.

The Microsoft Store currently offers ten-inch models of its Windows 8-powered tablets, but this may change soon. Images of the upcoming Acer Iconia W3 tablet were posted recently on the website before the manufacturer requested the images to be removed.

The tablet may be the first Windows 8-powered tablet from Acer and will allow Microsoft to enter a new segment in the tablet market.

The tablet will reportedly use the full-blown version of the Windows 8 OS. This will give users all of the features offered by the latest version of the operating system from Microsoft, which will also give it an advantage over the Google Nexus 7 and the iPad Mini of Apple.

The tablet will also feature a 1280 by 800 IPS display screen, dual-core Atom Clover Trail processor from Intel, 2GB RAM, and camera in front and the back. The specifications are consistent with the statements made by Microsoft recently in connection to smaller tablet devices that will be offered in the market before the end of the year.

With the current reduction in the price of the full-size Windows 8 tablet, the Acer Iconia W3 tablet will likely have a price tag comparable to tablets of the same size. It may even be possible for the tablet to be much cheaper.

Reports have also hinted at the possibility that licensing fee discounts are being offered by Microsoft for device manufacturers who will manufacturer smaller tablets. This means an eight-inch Windows tablet may be cheaper compared to low-end models of the Windows 8 tablets that are currently being offered in the market.

For the moment, no statements were issued by Acer in connection to the reports about the Acer Iconia W3 tablet.

The ten-inch Acer Iconia Tab A210 was initially introduced at during the Computex event and recent reports have indicated that the upcoming tablet is already listed on the website of the FCC. This means that the release of the upcoming tablet may already be on its way.

The Acer Iconia Tab A210 will supposedly take up the middle categories of the Iconia lineup of Acer. The upcoming device will have a 10.1-inch screen display that has a resolution of 1280 by 800 and will use the quad-core Tegra 3 processor from Nvidia. Two storage options will be available for potential users of the Acer Iconia Tab A210, an 8GB model and a 16GB model.

Other features of the Acer Iconia Tab A210 include a 1GB RAM, front-facing camera, microSD memory card slot, and a USB 2.0 port. The upcoming device will use the Android 4.0 OS from Google.

In addition to the Acer Iconia Tab A210, the other devices in the lineup include the Iconia Tab A700, which features a display that has a resolution of 1920 by 1200, which is reportedly the highest among all Android-powered tablets. The Iconia Tab A510 offers similar features as the Acer Iconia Tab A210 although its camera has a higher resolution as well a s number of other features not found on the upcoming tablet.

With the $450 price tag of the Iconia Tab A700, some industry watchers are waiting for the announcement of the official price tag of the upcoming Acer Iconia Tab A210. It is expected to be cheaper compared to the high-resolution tablet although it remains to be seen how low the price can go.

Although the Acer brand will not ring a bell each time consumers consider purchasing a tablet, recent reports will give consumers something to think about when they think about acquiring a tablet PC with the upcoming release of the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 update.

The Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 OS is the first Android OS to be fully optimized for use on tablet PCs. Although the Acer Iconia Tab devices do not come with the best possible features for tablets, they are among the most reasonably-priced Android-powered devices in the market.
