The resolution of a patent lawsuit between Apple and Samsung has resulted to the barring of the sale of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the US market.

Judge Lucy Koh recently ruled that Apple was able to clearly show that the company will experience irreparable damage unless an injunction was issued on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. This is the second time in the same week that an Android-powered device manufactured by Samsung was barred from sale in the United States.

The latest injunction on the sale of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus along with the first one issued in the week is not a good sign for the South Korean company since preliminary injunctions are not easily issued by American judges in cases such as this. It should also be noted that Samsung is a major supplier of the parts of products made by Apple.

Judges take into consideration irreparable harm to a company before an injunction is issued against the sale of devices. The issuance also increases the possibility of a victory in a trail for the company which sought the injunction. Koh also indicated that Apple was able to demonstrate that it may prevail in a trial against Samsung through its injunction request on the sale of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

A bond of $96 million was posted by Apple for the injunction against the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The amount is the estimated loss for Samsung for the duration of the injunction and will be awarded to the company if the South Korean company will prevail in the trial. The patent claims filed by Apple against the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are connected to data tapping, slide to unlock function, word completion on a touchscreen, and Siri with a unified search.

However the lawsuit will not stop with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus since Apple appears to be aiming for the latest smartphone offering of the South Korean company, the Samsung Galaxy S3. Four of the major wireless service providers in the US are set to offer the device, whose international sales Samsung has projected to reach around ten million units by the end of the month.

The lawsuit filed against the Samsung Galaxy Nexus by Apple restrained much of the excitement of the release of the Google Nexus 7 tablet. Google reportedly indicated that the issue with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus spoiled the introduction of the latest tablet and Android offering of the company. However the company also revealed that it believes that once the proof is shown, it will result an appropriate ruling from the court.

The South Korean company is expected to appeal the injunction filed against the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the same way it appealed the injunction against the SamsungGalaxy Tab.

Following the Samsung Galaxy S3’s availability  in the European market, Chipworks and iFixit did a little “reverse engineering” on the device as it check out the internal components of the latest Samsung smartphone.

The de-construction of the Samsung Galaxy S3 also revealed that the device features a 2100mAh battery, which is significantly bigger compared to the first Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and the Apple iPhone 4S although it was smaller than the3300mAh battery of the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx.

The teardown of the Samsung Galaxy S3 also showed that the display and the glass are fused together. Although this will increase the cost whenever it will be necessary to replace the display of the device, it uses the Corning Gorilla Glass 2 which increases its resistance from damage even as it maintains its slim design.

Another revelation from the teardown showed that the sensor on the 8MP camera of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is similar to the one used on the Apple iPhone 4S. However it remains to be seen if the Android-powered smartphone will offer similar image quality as the current version of the iPhone.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 also features a 1.9MP camera in front, which is better compared to the VGA camera that is currently being used on the iPhone 4S.

For the moment iFixit has not given the Samsung Galaxy S3 a ‘repairability score’ although this may be made available in the future.

Recent reports have indicated that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be released into the US market before the end of the month. So consumers who are not keen on importing the international version of the smartphone, which will be incompatible to the 4G LTE networks of US carriers, will just have to wait for a little while longer before they can finally get their hands on this much-anticipated Samsung smartphone.

More US Carriers To Offer Samsung Galaxy S3 By June

It appears that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will not be limited to T-Mobile when it will enter the US market since four other carriers will be offering the latest smartphone offering of Samsung.

In addition to T-Mobile, US Cellular, Sprint, AT&T and Verizon are expected to include the Samsung Galaxy S3 on their respective smartphone lineups. The upcoming release of the latest flagship smartphone of Samsung through the five US-based carriers was announced recently by Samsung and although there were no specific release dates, the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be released by these US carriers within the month of June. Prices for the upcoming smartphone from Samsung will start at around $200.

The US variant of the Samsung Galaxy S3 will feature a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor rather than the quad-core 1.4GHz Exynos processor of Samsung, which is featured on the international version of the device.

The incompatibility between the quad-core processor and the LTE networks of the US carriers may have been the reason for the use of the Qualcomm processor for the US variant of the Samsung Galaxy S3. The US variant of the HTC One X also uses as similar processor as opposed to the Tegra 3 processor that comes with the international version of the device.

Despite using a dual-core processor for the US variant of the Samsung Galaxy S3, observers have revealed that it still offers optimum performance for the upcoming device.

The other features on the Samsung Galaxy S3 include a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD screen display, 8MP camera that is capable of recording 1080p HD videos, 4G LTE network support and a number of applications that are featured on the Android 4.0 mobile platform from Google.

The display of the Samsung Galaxy S3 also features the Gorilla Glass 2.0 which offer a slim yet stronger protection for the device. The latest Samsung flagship smartphone also comes with a 2GB RAM and an internal storage of 16GB or 32GB.

Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE Enters US Market

Following a recent delay in the release of the HTC EVO 4G LTE due to a customs-related issue, the latest smartphone offering of Sprint was released recently into the US market by Sprint.

Pre-ordered units of the HTC EVO 4G LTE were delivered by Sprint last week together with a free casing as a peace offering to customers due to the delay in the release of the units. The HTC EVO 4G LTE of Sprint will have a price tag of around $200 with the standard two-year service contract.

The latest entry into the smartphone lineup of Sprint features a 4.7-inch display screen with a720 by 1280 resolution, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and an expandable internal storage of 16GB. The device also comes with an 8MP camera that features a LED flash.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE was supposed to enter the US market last May 18 however its release was delayed due to a patent dispute between HTC and Apple. This resulted to its being held by US Customs as ordered by the International Trade Commission. Following the removal of the code that supposedly infringed the patent held by Apple, the HTC EVO 4G LTE was cleared for release into the US market.

Users of the HTC EVO 4G LTE will be able to benefit from the LTE network of Sprint, which will reportedly become available before the end of the year.
