Invitations For BlackBerry 10 Event Released By RIM

Invitations were released by Research In Motion for the launch of the BlackBerry 10 in an event that will be held in New York City.

The company sent the invitations to a number of media outlets for the event in Pier 36 for the world premiere of the BlackBerry 10. No other details were released by RIM except for the tagline “Re-designed. Re-engineered. Re-invented”.

Last month the company revealed that the BlackBerry 10 will be launched on January 30. A full-touch screen device is expected to be launched by the company during the event. RIM is also expected to unveil another device that has a similar design as the current BlackBerry Bold handset.

A number of delays have affected the launch on the BlackBerry 10, which was not made easier by a number of issues that the company has been facing for a number of months. The market share of the company has gone down even in the niche that it dominated, the enterprise niche.

Industry watchers have indicated that the BlackBerry 10 is the best chance of the company to be able to compete against the Android and iOS. RIM revealed last October that carrier tests were already being done, which show that the company was making some progress in the development of the operating system.

The company also launched the BlackBerry 10 Technical Review that gave enterprise, media, insurance, financial, and government clients to evaluate the operating system. Among the participants in this evaluation are a number of Fortune 500 companies.

The Notebooks feature of the BlackBerry 10 is expected to be demonstrated by the company during the event. The Notebooks feature is supposedly a folder-like object containing notebook entries.

A number of applications are also expected to be offered by the upcoming BlackBerry 10 OS of RIM.

February Availability Of BlackBerry 10 Smartphones Hinted

It appears that Research In Motion is aiming for a comeback in the gadget market with its BlackBerry 10 smartphones.

A recent Bloomberg report indicated that the Canada-based company is aiming to release the first BlackBerry 10 smartphones by February following its upcoming January 30 launch in the international market.

Although the smartphones are not expected to be released by the different mobile network providers at the same time, RIM has indicated that the launches will be carried out within thirty days after they are unveiled.  This shows that the company is aiming to move fast with the launch and availability of its upcoming BlackBerry 10 smartphones.

Reports on the BlackBerry 10 have been going around for some time already and the company has postponed its release a number of times. The upcoming release of the BlackBerry 10 smartphones comes over a year after it had a major product announcement, which was the BlackBerry 7 product lineup that was announced in the later part of 2011.

The BlackBerry 10 smartphones may be the last-ditch effort of RIM in turning its fortunes around. Prior to the rise of the iPhone and Android smartphones, it was considered as the leader in the market.

Despite ceding the leadership in the smartphone market, the company still has a good market among corporate and government users since its devices are considered to offer better security compared to its competitors. It aims to entice its clients to upgrade to the BlackBerry 10 with the upcoming release of the BlackBerry 10 smartphones.

August 9 Release of BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet With 4G LTE

Following a gradual decrease in the market share of Research In Motion in the device market, the company may be hoping that its upcoming device offering will allow it to get back on the good graces of consumers. The 4G LTE model of the BlackBerry PlayBook of RIM is expected to become available in the market by August 9 in the Canadian market even as the schedule for the US release has yet to be announced by the company.

The 4G LTE model of the BlackBerry Playbook will be available with a 32GB internal storage and if 4G LTE connectivity is unavailable, the device will reportedly adjust to an HSPA+ network automatically. According to the company, the European and US release of the 4G LTE model of the BlackBerry PlayBook will be coming in the next few months. The same goes with other markets around the world,

Even though the 4G LTE model of the BlackBerry Playbook already has a release date for Canada, the company has yet to reveal its price tag.

Aside from the 4G LTE network support and an upgrade in the processor from 1GHz to 1.5GHz, the device basically has the same features as the original device that was released around a year ago. The 4G LTE model of the BlackBerry Playbook will feature a seven-inch display screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600, a pair of HD cameras, stereo speakers, and HDMI capability.

The 4G LTE model of the BlackBerry Playbook will also feature a 1GB of RAM although it will only be available in one storage option at 32GB.

The 4G LTE model of the BlackBerry Playbook is considered as the last chance for RIM to be able to perform well in the market following a number of issues that resulted to poor sales of the original model of the device. The future of RIM will likely lie on the performance of the 4G LTE model of the BlackBerry Playbook in the market, which may soon see the release of the reported iPad Mini of Apple.
