Reports On The BlackBerry R10 Continue To Emerge

It seems that Research In Motion aims to get back its share of the market, and it may come in the release of a new BlackBerry device that will be dubbed as the BlackBerry R10.

Images of the upcoming device were leaked recently into the net, and this device may be a low-priced version of the BlackBerry Q10. The images initially emerged on DGtle, a China-based website. It showed the familiar keyboard of a BlackBerry device. However, it does not feature the premium design of the BlackBerry Q10.

The images appear to show a device made of plastic instead of the fiber glass-plastic material used on the BlackBerry Q10.

The BlackBerry R10 features a back plate that appears to be glossy and has a more pronounced rectangular design. Reports have also indicated that the upcoming device will use the new BlackBerry 10 software, which means that it may not be a huge downgrade for the upcoming device.  The chiseled typing surfaces of the QWERTY keys of the BlackBerry Q10 may be step up from the rather shallow design of the previous Blackberry devices.

The launch of the reported BlackBerry R10 remains to unconfirmed although some reports have hinted at the possibility that it may be unveiled during the BlackBerry Live event. Some industry watchers are anticipating the release of new tablet devices by RIM. However the statements of Thorsten Heins, the CEO of the company, have pre-empted such expectations.

It may be possible for the company to have some partnerships with app developers or some Android apps may be ported into the BlackBerry 10 OS. However, the BlackBerry Live event may also see the launch of the reported BlackBerry R10.

A recent report from CNET revealed that the BlackBerry 10 devices will be offered to all price points once they are released into the market this year.

According to Frank Boulden, chief marketing officer of Research In Motion, all income levels will be able to benefit from its latest operating system. Six BlackBerry 10 devices are expected to be released within the year with the initial salvo featuring touch-screen displays. Another upcoming BlackBerry 10 device will come with a full QWERTY keyboard.

The new BlackBerry 10 smartphones are expected to be launched by RIM on January 30.

The future of RIM will likely be determined by the BlackBerry 10 OS, which is the latest mobile OS of the company. The company has lost a good number of its clients to the iPhone of Apple and the Android devices. RIM revealed that it aims to maintain its strength when it comes to user-friendly messaging and typing features. In addition, the new software may also enhance the multimedia features of the devices that use the new OS.

Most of the market of RIM has been government and corporate users although it was able to find its own niche in the other market segments. The BlackBerry Messenger technology has increased the popularity of the device in developing markets. This feature allows users to use the network of RIM and bypass the SMS text messaging service of mobile service providers. This has given penny-pinchers a means of communicating without having to pay for every text message they send.

RIM aims to target these users when it will release some of its BlackBerry 10 devices. It also aims to attract high-end clients once the BlackBerry 10 devices are released into the market.

Despite losing clients to its rivals, RIM will still have loyal users in the corporate world, according to the SAP chief information officer Oliver Bussman. He believes that there are still a number of BlackBerry users around the world.

Although SAP facilitates the management of iPhones, iPads, and Android devices, a good number of BlackBerry products are used by their corporate clients. SAP is also among the companies that beta-tested the BlackBerry 10 OS.

Bussman also indicated that the success of RIM will likely hinge on the BlackBerry 10 OS.

To ensure the success of the BlackBerry 10 OS, RIM has to offer a good number of apps for upcoming BlackBerry 10 devices. RIM reportedly revealed that around 70,000 applications will be ready once the BlackBerry 10 devices are launched.

The marketing chief of RIM indicated that a number of developers are supporting the platform. RIM also aims to offer at least 600 applications in major markets to provide clients with apps they need. For the moment, around 90 percent of these apps are already available for the BlackBerry 10 OS.

Invitations For BlackBerry 10 Event Released By RIM

Invitations were released by Research In Motion for the launch of the BlackBerry 10 in an event that will be held in New York City.

The company sent the invitations to a number of media outlets for the event in Pier 36 for the world premiere of the BlackBerry 10. No other details were released by RIM except for the tagline “Re-designed. Re-engineered. Re-invented”.

Last month the company revealed that the BlackBerry 10 will be launched on January 30. A full-touch screen device is expected to be launched by the company during the event. RIM is also expected to unveil another device that has a similar design as the current BlackBerry Bold handset.

A number of delays have affected the launch on the BlackBerry 10, which was not made easier by a number of issues that the company has been facing for a number of months. The market share of the company has gone down even in the niche that it dominated, the enterprise niche.

Industry watchers have indicated that the BlackBerry 10 is the best chance of the company to be able to compete against the Android and iOS. RIM revealed last October that carrier tests were already being done, which show that the company was making some progress in the development of the operating system.

The company also launched the BlackBerry 10 Technical Review that gave enterprise, media, insurance, financial, and government clients to evaluate the operating system. Among the participants in this evaluation are a number of Fortune 500 companies.

The Notebooks feature of the BlackBerry 10 is expected to be demonstrated by the company during the event. The Notebooks feature is supposedly a folder-like object containing notebook entries.

A number of applications are also expected to be offered by the upcoming BlackBerry 10 OS of RIM.

It appears that Research In Motion is aiming for a comeback in the gadget market with its BlackBerry 10 smartphones.

A recent Bloomberg report indicated that the Canada-based company is aiming to release the first BlackBerry 10 smartphones by February following its upcoming January 30 launch in the international market.

Although the smartphones are not expected to be released by the different mobile network providers at the same time, RIM has indicated that the launches will be carried out within thirty days after they are unveiled.  This shows that the company is aiming to move fast with the launch and availability of its upcoming BlackBerry 10 smartphones.

Reports on the BlackBerry 10 have been going around for some time already and the company has postponed its release a number of times. The upcoming release of the BlackBerry 10 smartphones comes over a year after it had a major product announcement, which was the BlackBerry 7 product lineup that was announced in the later part of 2011.

The BlackBerry 10 smartphones may be the last-ditch effort of RIM in turning its fortunes around. Prior to the rise of the iPhone and Android smartphones, it was considered as the leader in the market.

August 9 Release of BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet With 4G LTE

Following a gradual decrease in the market share of Research In Motion in the device market, the company may be hoping that its upcoming device offering will allow it to get back on the good graces of consumers. The 4G LTE model of the BlackBerry PlayBook of RIM is expected to become available in the market by August 9 in the Canadian market even as the schedule for the US release has yet to be announced by the company.

Latest BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet May Be Coming Soon

A recent report over at MobileSyrup revealed that the latest version of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will be introduced into the Canadian market by the end of the month. This upcoming model of the tablet offering of Research In Motion will feature 4G LTE connectivity, which has been long-awaited by a number of BlackBerry customers.

The latest BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will reportedly be introduced into the Canadian market by July 31 through Bell as well as other Canada-based mobile service providers. The blog revealed that the price tag of the upcoming device will be at around $550, as indicated through an internal document from Bell.

The internal document also indicated that the upcoming BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will feature a seven-inch display screen with a resolution of 1024 by 600, dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, 1GB RAM and an internal storage of 32GB.

The latest model of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will also feature a five megapixel camera at the back that has the capability of recording 1080p videos as well as a three-megapixel camera up front. The device will use the BlackBerry 2.0 OS and will feature HSPA+ and 4G LTE network support.

Despite the demand for 4G LTE connectivity on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, it took a rather long time for it to reach the market. The device was initially announced by RIM during the 2011 Mobile World Congress and Sprint was supposedly the first mobile network provider to include it in its lineup. However, following plans of focusing on LTE connectivity for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet by RIM, the supposed offering of Sprint was cancelled.

The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet was supposed to be promoted to business users although it has not created much of an impact in the market. Its sluggish performance in the market continued despite a reduction in the price of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet implemented by RIM last September.

RIM will be facing an uphill struggle if it will indeed release the latest BlackBerry PlayBook tablet into a market that offers numerous options for consumers. 

Leaked Roadmap Hints At BlackBerry 10 Phone Release Schedule

A recently leaked roadmap from Research In Motion revealed that the company is expected to unveil its BlackBerry 10 phones next year.

The roadmap also revealed that the company is set to release a number of new products by 2013 that RIM intends to facilitate its recovery. The roadmap showed that the 4G model of the BlackBerry PlayBook may be released by winter prior to the release of the first set of BlackBerry 10 phones near the start of 2013.

Among the BlackBerry 10 phones that RIM is expected to unveil are the BlackBerry London, which will be the first touchscreen phone of the company, and the BlackBerry Nevada, which will feature a physical keyboard. The release of these upcoming BlackBerry 10 phones were postponed due to some issues facing the company in the integration of some features into the latest operating system.

The BlackBerry London may be introduced by the company in the first quarter if the plans will remain unchanged. Europe will be the first market where these upcoming BlackBerry 10 phones will be released in before they will be offered in the North American market.

In addition to the two BlackBerry 10 phones, RIM is also expected to unveil the Blackforest from between July to September of next year. The icons suggest that the upcoming device will be bigger compared to the existing model of the BlackBerry PlayBook.

The roadmap also shows two other devices that were dubbed as Naples and Nashville although no images of the two devices were shown.

RIM has experienced a drop in its share of the market which resulted to the delay in the release of its latest operating system. It remains uncertain if the upcoming bigger model of the BlackBerry PlayBook and the BlackBerry 10 phone will allow the company to gradually recover in the market that is currently dominated by Apple and Android devices.
