Reports have recently emerged on the possible introduction of two HD smartphones by Motorola Mobility. Hot Hardware recently revealed that the smartphone manufacturer will be unveiling the Motorola Droid Razr HD as well as the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD.

However the site did not reveal the sources of its report. The upcoming Motorola Droid Razr HD and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD will reportedly be introduced by the company through Verizon by October. This comes one year after the original version of the Motorola Droid Razr was introduced into the market.

But the supposed date of introduction for the upcoming Motorola Droid Razr HD comes after the supposed release date of the iPhone 5 of Apple, which may be disadvantageous for the company.

The original Motorola Droid Razr Maxx was the most popular smartphone from Verizon due to the better battery life which extended the talk time, gaming and browsing for users of the device. Even as the report has hinted at the possible launch of two Motorola devices, it is still also possible for the company to introduce only one smartphone in the market as indicated in an FCC filing for the reported Motorola Droid Razr HD.

It remains uncertain if the reported Motorola Droid Razr HD will be able to go up against the iPhone 5 of Apple in the market especially with reports that the latest model of the iPhone will supposed feature a bigger screen display, support for 4G LTE connectivity, and an enhanced design.

The upcoming Motorola Droid Razr HD will also have to contend with the Samsung Galaxy S3, which has been performing quite well following its recent release into the market.

Motorola Droid Razr and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx May Receive Android 4.0 Soon

Verizon recently confirmed that the Android 4.0 update will be released to the Motorola Droid Razr and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx soon.

The US-based mobile service provider had promised to release the latest version of the Android platform for the slim smartphones of Motorola in the second quarter and it appears that the company is moving quickly to meet its own deadline.

Previous reports have given indications of possible release schedules of the Android 4.0 update for the Motorola Droid Razr and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx. However these schedules have been constantly moved back.

The most recent schedule for the release of the update for the Motorola Droid Razr and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx was on June 12, but the update has yet to be seen. Sources of the report has indicated that the June 12 release schedule was on the internal calendar of the company and it appears that the delay was due to some issues in another department within the company.

It appears that the recent confirmation released by Motorola on the upcoming Android 4.0 update for the Motorola Droid Razr and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx has been sent to a number of Verizon customers.

The text message indicated that when the Android 4.0 update will be released to the Motorola Droid Razr and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, the Verizon Mobile IM application will be removed from the device since the latest Android mobile platform does not support the app.

Owners of the Motorola Droid Razr and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx from Verizon are advised to download the new instant messaging application in order to use the IM on their devices.

The waiting may soon be over for owners of the Motorola Droid Razr and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx from Verizon as the release of the Android 4.0 update draws closer.

June 12 Release of Android 4.0 for Motorola Droid Razr

It appears that the Android 4.0 update will become available for the Verizon Motorola Droid Razr by the coming week.

The MotorolaDroid Razr and the Droid Razr Maxx were supposed to receive the latest version of the Android mobile platform last May 21 even as owners of the Motorola Xoom tablets will have to continue to wait for the release of the Android 4.0 update for their devices.

However it seems that the tables have turned as the Android 4.0 update is currently being released to the Motorola Xoom tablet while owners of the Motorola Droid Razr have yet to receive their Ice Cream Sandwich Android OS.

According to sources inside the US-based carrier, the over-the-air Android 4.0 update will be released to the Motorola Droid Razr by June 12. Since the servers that are used in delivering the latest Android mobile platform to the devices reportedly needed to be updated, a delay in the release was supposedly inevitable.

For owners of the Motorola Droid Razr who have reached their limit can opt to get the unofficial Android 4.0 update although they should take into consideration that since it is an unofficial update, it may result to the voiding of the warranty of their respective devices.

Three unannounced units of smartphones from Motorola saw their details and images revealed recently. Among these smartphone trio is a device that may carry the name Motorola Blade.

The initial specifications as well as images of these Motorola smartphones, including the supposed Motorola Blade, were leaked online recently and it showed that they have a similar design as the Motorola Droid Razr and the Motorola Atrix 2. These upcoming smartphones are expected to be released into the international market.

The first smartphone is the device that is anticipated to carry the name Motorola Blade. This particular smartphone appears similar to the Motorola Droid Fighter, which was also leaked recently.

The supposed Motorola Blade will feature a display screen of at least 4.5 inches and will feature soft keys near the bottom of the device. The camera at the back is supposed to be an HD camera which hints at a 8MP to 13MP unit.

The supposed Motorola Blade is also as slim as the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, which hints at a 3300mAh battery. The Motorola Blade name was based on threads at Phone HK.

Aside from the supposed Motorola Blade, information about the Motorola XT760 was also leaked recently. Featuring the Gingerbread Android 2.3 OS, this mid-range smartphone has a touch-only design and may feature a qHD TFT LCD display with a resolution of 960 by 540.

The smartphone also features a dual-core 1GHz ST Ericsson chip and an 8MP camera with an autofocus function.

The third Motorola smartphone that was leaked recently was the MT680, which is similar to the Motoluxe. The device features a WVGA LCD display screen with a 480 by 800 resolution, dual-core 1GHz or 1,5GHz processor, 5MP camera, and the Gingerbread Android 2.3 OS.

The actual names of these smartphones remain uncertain including the supposed Motorola Blade particularly with the tendency of Motorola to name the international versions of their devices using their model number.

Update for Motorola Droid Razor Android Not Coming Soon

Motorola Droid Razor

Motorola announced last year that the Motorola Droid Razr will receive the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 update near the start of 2012. However it appears that the update may not be released within the first quarter of the year.

The most recent roadmap for software updates of Motorola showed that the Motorola Droid Razr, Motorola Droid Razr Maxx and Motorola Droid Bionic were still being evaluated, which would indicate that the company is still checking these devices before the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 update will be released.

Reports have indicated that it will take some time before the update will be released to these devices including the Motorola Droid Razr.

Due to this the quarter may pass without the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 update released to the Motorola Droid Razr, Motorola Droid Razr Maxx and Motorola Droid Bionic

For the moment, the roadmap has indicated that the Motorola Atrix, Motorola Atrix 4G, and Motorola Photon 4G will be among the smartphones from the company that are set to receive the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 update.

Aside from these smartphones, the Android 4.0 update will be released to a number of Motorola tablets. The Motorola Xoom tablets will also received the latest Android OS update within the current quarter or near the start of the coming quarter.

So owners of the Motorola Droid Razr and other smartphones will have to wait a bit longer before the latest version of the Android OS is finally released to their devices.
