The latest tablet offering of Lenovo was announced recently, initiating the next-generation devices of the company that will feature the Windows 8 OS of Microsoft. The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 will feature a 10.1-inch display screen and the Atom Clover Trail processor of Intel.

Weighing under-600 grams, the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 will become available sometime in October at around the same time the Windows 8 OS will be made available by Microsoft.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 succeeds the first ThinkPad Tablet, which used the Android 3.1 OS of Google and was released last year. The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 was initially unveiled during the Computex event in Taipei last June.

The upcoming tablet offering of Lenovo will feature an HD display, cameras in front and the back, an HDMI port, and a wireless video streaming feature. A USB port can be used to connect other peripherals like printers to the tablet, which also features a stylus input function.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 also features a fingerprint reader and has a remote management feature. According to the company, the upcoming device is designed for home and business use and may be offered with 3G as well as 4G connectivity options.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 was the result of the close collaboration of the company with Microsoft and Intel. The backward compatibility of the Intel chip with current programs of Windows PC programs was a major consideration of the company when it decided to use it. This will make the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 suitable for use in business environments.

Among the main rivals of the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 in the market will be the Microsoft Surface tablet along with the upcoming Windows 8 tablet offerings of Asus, Acer, Dell, and Hewlett Packard. The company will reportedly announce the price tag of the upcoming device near its launch date.

Simulated Screenshots Hint At Bigger Screen For iPhone 5

It appears that new images have given more credence to earlier reports that the soon-to-be-released iPhone 5 will come with a bigger screen display.

A blog focused on Apple devices, 9to5Mac, reportedly discovered simulated screenshots of an iPhone that shows an extra row of icons, bringing the total number of rows to five rather than the typical four rows. This has added to the authenticity of earlier reports on a bigger screen display for the next iPhone, which is widely considered to be the iPhone 5.

Anonymous sources have reportedly informed the blog that testing for a taller display setting was already being implemented by Apple.  A number of developmental tools on the iOS 6 were used by the blog in simulating a screen resolution of 640 by 1136. This resulted to five icon rows instead of the typical four rows shown on the existing iOS.

The blog indicated that the five icon rows will not be displayed correctly using the simulator whenever a different resolution is used. The icons would be resized to the size used on the iPad if a different resolution was used.

A number of reports emerged last year that hinted of a four-inch screen display for the upcoming iPhone 5. The bigger screen display would definitely be quite appealing for potential users of the iPhone 5 even as a number of Android-powered devices are already using bigger screen displays.

Numerous reports and leaks have emerged recent months on the upcoming release of the iPhone 5 even as the existence of the device was not yet officially confirmed by Apple.

In addition to the iPhone 5, Apple will reportedly release the iPad Mini in an event that is scheduled to be held next month.

The Jelly Bean seems to be going to a number of Galaxy devices and the latest Samsung smartphone to receive the Android 4.1 update is the Samsung Galaxy S3.

The latest firmware has already passed internal testing and is already being prepared for release according to a report from the mobile blog, SamMobile. The Android 4.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be released once approval is given by Google. In addition to the Samsung Galaxy S3, the Android 4.1 update for the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note is already being developed by the company.

A value pack option may also be offered by Samsung in case any problems are encountered by the devices once the update is prepared.

Although it should be taken into consideration that Samsung has yet to announce the availability of the Android 4.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S3, it gives users of the device something to look forward to. However US users have also to keep in mind that the different US-based network providers will make the final announcements on the availability of the update.

The upcoming release of the Google Android 4.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes as more and more Android-powered devices continue to receive the previous version of the mobile platform, the Ice Cream Sandwich Android. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the latest flagship smartphone of the South Korean company, which is the successor to the widely popular Galaxy S2.

Sales of iPhone 5 Expected to Reach 170 Million

An analyst from Asymco revealed that Apple may sell around 170 million units of the iPhone 5 by the middle of next year. According to Horace Dediu of Asymco, around 200 million iPhone units will be sold until next year and around 85 percent of this will be the next generation iPhone.

Deidu used the same market analysis that he used in the past and 170 million of the 200 million units of the iPhone sold will be the upcoming iPhone 5.

Deidu used the explanation of Paul Schiller, the marketing head of Apple, when he came up with the sales figures for the iPhone 5. Schller indicated that the number of units that the company will sell for the next generation iPhone will be approximately the similar to the combined sales of the earlier models of the device.

Basing on the statement of Schiller during the legal battle between Apple and Samsung, Dediu discovered that sales of the iPhone 3G was around four times more than the original model of the device while the iPhone 3GS sales was 1.6 more than the sales of the iPhone 3G and the original model of the iPhone.

Similarly, the iPhone 4 outsold the three earlier models of the device while the iPhone 4S is already halfway through the total sales of the first four models of the device.

Deidu thinks that sales of the iPhone 5 may go beyond the 200 million mark in the next two years. It may even go beyond the 250 million mark depending on the marketing strategy of Apple for the upcoming iPhone 5. The upcoming iPhone 5 will reportedly be launched by Apple by next month along with a smaller model of the iPad.

A number of speculations, leaks, and analysis are expected to emerged in the coming weeks leading to the release of the iPhone 5 although none of these will be certain until the company will finally release the device into the market.

A number of leaked images of the supposed iPhone 5 have emerged in recent weeks and the latest leaked image shows the supposed nano-SIM tray for the next model of the iPhone of Apple.

The images of the supposed nano-SIM tray of the iPhone 5 were initially posted on nowhereelse.fr and were reportedly sourced from the main source of the components of the iPhone, China. The upcoming next-generation iPhone will reportedly be introduced by September together with another Apple device, the iPad Mini.

The images showed that the width of the nano-SIM tray was smaller compared to the micro-SIM tray. The extra space provided by the smaller nano-SIM tray will definitely be beneficial for the upcoming iPhone 5.

Apple has yet to confirm the use of the nano-SIM card on the upcoming iPhone 5 although the design was already given the approval by ESTI. The post on nowhereelse.fr also includes a supposed redesigned Home button although it appear quite similar to the design used on the iPhone 4 as well as the iPhone 4S. The only noticeable difference is that the Home button of the two previous models of the iPhone appeared wider compared to the Home button on the upcoming iPhone 5.

The report did not give any indications that the upcoming iPad Mini will be using the new nano-SIM that will supposedly be used on the iPhone 5. It also did not give any indications that the Home button on the smaller iPad will be modified.

Reports on the upcoming iPhone 5 have continued to emerge even as Apple has yet to officially confirm the existence of the upcoming device although hints recently came out on a possible new device offering from the company.

Rear-View Image of iPad Mini Emerges

A few weeks prior to the supposed introduction of the iPad Mini saw an image of the upcoming smaller model of the tablet offering of Apple appearing in a micro-blogging site based in China. Although the image was rather dark, it was probably the closest view of the back view of the upcoming device that has emerged so far.

The image showed that the supposed iPad Mini will not have a camera at the back although it may not be much of a problem since its most likely competitors also do not come with the same feature.

The authenticity of the image remains uncertain since the one who posted the supposed iPad Mini image has not made any similar postings in the past that leaked Apple products. However the Apple logo on the supposed iPad Mini appeared real while the design looks similar to the current model of the iPad.

Recent reports have hinted that the smaller model of the iPad will be introduced by Apple by September 12 although the company has not made any confirmations on the supposed launch date. In addition to the iPad Mini, the iPhone 5 will reportedly be introduced by the company at around the same date.

The upcoming iPad Mini contradicts the pronouncements of the late Steve Jobs that a seven-inch tablet is too small to fully optimize its features. However a recent report indicated that the late Apple co-founder was receptive on the notion of offering a smaller device according to Eddie Cue of Apple. An email correspondence reportedly revealed this supposed change of heart by Jobs, who was also known to change his mind at times.

The upcoming iPad Mini will reportedly feature a seven-inch display screen and is considered as the main competitor to the rather successful Amazon Kindle Fire and the recently released Google Nexus 7 tablet.

Since the two small-sized tablets have a rather low price, industry watchers are hoping for Apple to keep the price tag of the upcoming iPad Mini at around the same price range.
